Reviews For The Painting

I cannot express the level of awe I have for this fic. I can't think of anything that could have been better here: from the smallest details of each sentence to the overall plot, the way broader glimpses are given of the vampires' lives, but a lot is left to the imagination. Especially I love its sensuality, how the aesthetics of the setting are blent with the emotional and moral concerns Louis is obssessing over.
This is one of my favorite portrayals of the Louis/Lestat relationship. The scene at the end of the second chapter has got to be my favorite intimate scene between them in any fic. It perfectly captured the tenderness and searing intensity of Ricean vampires' "lovemaking". The language reflecting Louis' disorientation, the fade to black - it made me literally weak the first time I read it.
The characters are so beautifully drawn from Louis' perspective: Lestat as the dangerous and possessive lover, but never as an absolute villain, the writing hints at his insecurities and kinder elements to his character. Marius absolutely shines as the wise savior, although he is relatable through his conflicted desire.
Louis himself wrenched my heart - his inner torment, search for answers and indulgence in melancholy, helpless desire and faithful love for Lestat, it was so perfect. This doesn't do it justice, I could go on. And on. And on.

Lovely! It's been a long time since I've read something that sent such electricity through my heart. Thank you for sharing. You captured all three of these complex characters so well, especially Lestat, he was a perfectly antagonistic sort! lovely!
